Supply Terms

Our website is fully licensed by PRS for Music and we pay a royalty to PRS for Music for each backing track that is purchased from our website. This is paid to the music publishers who control the musical works that are embodied in the backing tracks we sell. That in turn is passed onto the songwriters who created the compositions in the first place.

The full terms and conditions of our licence with PRS for Music can be viewed here

Those terms and conditions explain what you can and cannot do with the recordings in respect of the publishing rights that are granted under the licence.

In terms of the recordings rights, as the owners of the recordings we operate a fair use policy in that we don't have a problem with customers using the tracks for live performances and recording themselves. You can upload the tracks to YouTube (or similar sites) with your lead vocals added but please don't upload the backing tracks on their own.

If you want to produce a commercial CD or sell the finished recordings for profit then you need permission from two parties:

  1. The owner of the recording(s) ("the recording rights").
  2. The relevant music publisher that controls the rights to the compositions in the country where you want to sell the track(s) ("the publishing rights").

You can obtain the recording rights from us directly and in the UK you can contact PRS for Music to apply for a licence to cover the publishing rights.
